This one needed a straight cut. Very tight roll. Smoked a LONG time. Very slow burn but you could tell it was a high quality cigar. Not spicy at all. Very smooth. -Brett G

Cigar Review: Apostate No. 7 – Moroni’s Trumpet
Vital Stats:
- Size: 6.25 x 56 (Torpedo)
- Wrapper: San Andrés Oscuro (Mexico)
- Binder: Olor (Dominican Republic)
- Filler: Dominican Republic & USA

First Impressions:
Right out of the gate, the Apostate No. 7 Moroni’s Trumpet impresses with a dark, oily San Andrés Oscuro wrapper. The construction is excellent, with a firm but not overly tight feel and minimal veins. The torpedo shape allows for a controlled cut, making it easy to tailor the draw to personal preference.
On the cold draw, there are rich notes of dark cocoa, earth, and a touch of espresso, with a mild sweetness lingering on the lips. There’s also an underlying spice, hinting at what’s to come once the flame meets the foot. -4o mini
First Third:
Upon lighting, the initial puffs offer a bold yet balanced mix of dark chocolate and espresso, with a noticeable black pepper spice on the retrohale. The Olor binder brings a slightly floral and herbal quality that adds an interesting depth. Smoke production is excellent, producing thick, creamy clouds.
The burn line remains even, and the ash is a tight white-gray stack—evidence of high-quality rolling. There’s a slow, steady pace to the burn, reinforcing the promise of a long and luxurious smoke. -4o mini

Second Third:
As the cigar progresses, the spice mellows slightly, making way for a creamy texture. Hints of leather and roasted nuts begin to emerge, complementing the core flavors of cocoa and coffee. The complexity deepens, with occasional notes of dried fruit and a touch of cinnamon appearing.
The draw remains smooth, and the construction holds up well. The strength sits at a solid medium-to-full at this stage, making it enjoyable without being overpowering. -4o mini
Final Third:
The last third of Moroni’s Trumpet takes on a darker, more intense profile. Espresso and dark chocolate dominate, with a return of the peppery spice from the first third. A faint sweetness lingers on the finish, akin to molasses or dark caramel. The creaminess remains, balancing out the bolder flavors.
While the cigar remains cool, the intensity builds slightly, leaning toward full-bodied. It’s a slow-burning experience, rewarding those who take their time to enjoy every puff.
The Apostate No. 7 Moroni’s Trumpet is a beautifully crafted cigar with rich, dynamic flavors that evolve throughout the smoking experience. The San Andrés Oscuro wrapper brings depth and a touch of sweetness, while the Olor binder and diverse fillers create a balanced and complex profile. -4o mini
